Carrie Nelson (Navajo) from Cameron, Arizona. She was raised and lived on Navajoland as a child: Shiprock, NM; Farmington, NM; and Cameron, AZ as well as San Diego, CA and now resides in Flagstaff, AZ. Carrie is of the Rock Gap Clan, born for the Tangle Clan. Her Maternal Grandfather is of the Towering House Clan and Paternal grandfather is of the Hopi-Salt Clan.
Carrie has worked for 18 years forDiscover Flagstaff aka Flagstaff Convention & Visitors Bureau as the Administrative Specialist, a Division of the City of Flagstaff. Previously she worked in the Human Resources Division for the City. With this, she brings experience in tourism for Flagstaff and northern Arizona.
She and her partner of 26 years, Ronald have two grown children and four step-children. They enjoy sports, weekend traveling, spending time with family, grandkids, and especially music.
As a newer board member, she hopes to help AAITA reach their goals and promote whenever she can.
Founded in 1994, the AAITA promotes the development
of Indian Tourism in Arizona while respecting the
cultural integrity of all tribes.
