Virgil is indigenous to the Hopi/Navajo tribe. He grew up on the Navajo Reservation, near Cornfields, AZ and Fort Defiance. He is a graduate of Window Rock High School and Santa Fe College, 4.0 scale, DM Chemistry / Biology, Minor in Nursing. C.Core Navy, and commissioned officer in the Air Force. He retired from the VA Medical Health Care System after 30 years of service. Served as EEO advisory for the VA System for 6 years. Planned and implemented indigenous recognition month in Oct. with learning entertainment: A Gourd Dance, Eagle Dance, indigenous Royalty attendance, small Pow-Wow dance. Serving an indigenous Cuisine to the Employees.
Volunteer for the Fiesta Bowl Parade for 15 years as the Parade Marshall, Battle of the Bands with the Fiesta Bowl Committee for 3 years, Pueblo Grande Indian Market as the Volunteer Coordinator, Native Health, Disability 360 and SWA Indian Market in Santa Fe, New Mexico.
He is a 12 year Board Member with Pueblo Grande Museum.
Virgil likes learning new ideas, also hiking, walking, biking, camping, reading, traveling and attending community events.
Founded in 1994, the AAITA promotes the development
of Indian Tourism in Arizona while respecting the
cultural integrity of all tribes.
